As of right now, the list for this year's Tokyo Game Show does not have Nintendo's signature on there. Is there a reason? Actually, yes there is. Apparently, various websites are speculating that Nintendo will perhaps reveal more info about the Wii earlier than expected. As a matter of fact, Penny Arcade's website has confirmed that Nintendo will be one of the many sponsors to represent the upcoming Penny Arcade Expo (PAX) on August 25 to 27.

And yet, www.onnintendo.com has confirmed that Nintendo is expected to show up at an European event called the "Games Convention" in Germany on August 24 to 27.

So is Nintendo's absence at this year's Tokyo Game Show a good thing? Well, quite possibly yes. As a matter of fact, that could be a great thing! That means we can get all the other details about Nintendo's new machine in just 30 days, rather than wait another 60 days for the Tokyo Game Show! That's only if we can believe the above post. I can only hope that come late August, Nintendo will indeed be ready to talk.

Wii Man out!!

Gamepro Feature Article confirms Rare games to be available on Virtual Console!!

Hey peeps, Wii Man in the house! Just got my newest Gamepro mag in the mail on Monday and stumbled upon a very fascinating article concerning Nintendo's Virtual Console. It's titled "15 Retro Games for the Wii You Must Play" and apparently the likes of GoldenEye 007, Killer Instinct, and Perfect Dark are listed on there. With that said, the websites that conceded that those Rare games weren't going to be on the Virtual Console will be eating a lot of crow once they get a whiff of this article. Now about the article itself, is it really as legit as it looks? It really is hard to dispute a magazine article compared to a internet article. Besides, you look at the other games on the list and see titles like Super Mario World and Super Metroid and still think the list might be somehow fake? Well, until Gamepro and I are proven wrong, it looks like we will be downloading awesome Rare classics on our Wii somewhere down the line. C'mon Banjo Kazooie!! Wii Man out!!

Something Very Interesting found on Rare's official website!

Now what might this involve? About 10 days ago, I was browsing through Rare's official website and found this. Read On!

Dear Scribes,
Now this might have so many legality problems than the return of AT&T (it's an American thing), but I'm just wondering about the status of Rare's older games. With services like Nintendo's old games being available for download and Xbox Live Arcade, is there any remote chance of seeing any of your old games on either service?
Frankly, Id love to play your old games on the Wii, but I can't forget that Microsoft owns you now. So then I thought about you guys putting your old games on Microsoft's Arcade service, but then again, they can't emulate Nintendo's old hardware where your games were originally developed without them being sued or something like that.
I'm not expecting this to be as easy as the GBA/DS development (since Microsoft isn't competing in that industry), considering Xbox Live and Nintendo's virtual console are services for competing home consoles. Oh well.
(Posted by Dan Kim)

Rare's official words: Some kind of Xbox Live Arcade presence is a definite possibility, whether it's old games, new games, or old games made new. The prospect of Virtual Console presence I know very little about, beyond the fact that you shouldn't believe common slack-jawed internet gossip claiming that the matter has already been resolved one way or another. Wait for some kind of official announcement- the Gaming Age forums and magazine rumour columns don't count. Are you Jin from Lost?

End of Translation

WOW! Does this mean what I think it means? Oh boy, something tells me the upcoming Tokyo Game Show is going to be one hell of a thrill ride for Nintendo, just like this year's E3 was!

But in the mean time, need more proof? Go to www.rareware.com, go to the lower left menu where it's titled "Extras" and click on "scribes". There are a lot of letters to scroll down through, but you will eventually find it within the area.

This is the Wii Man on his birthday(May 20) signing off. PEACE OUT!

T_T not my section

I would post something new about the Revolution, but alas, it's not my field of expertise. E3 is finally here and I manage to check out Nintendo's press conference details and I got to tell you, I was impressed! Nintendo kept their promise and promoted the new Nintendo Wii platform and the unique controller. What I found more impressive was the official list of promised Wii games down the road. Go to IGN.com and check the list out. Trust me, what's on the list will surprise you! If there are any gripes about the Big N right now, it's that they didn't discuss a actual release date, price point for the Wii, nor were there any details about the much anticipated virtual console. I'm willing to bet that if nothing is said about these three topics before E3 ends, then the Tokyo Game Show it is. Despite some lack of key details, Nintendo had a very good show so far. We'll see more in the coming week, but until then, go to IGN.com, get all the info you can muster and enjoy! Oh yeah, Sony and Microsoft are there too. Hells Yeah!!

IGN.com has announced today that SNK will release a collection of the critically acclaimed Metal Slug series on Nintendo's new platform. It's been confirmed that Metal Slug one thru five will be on there! Even number 6 is a possibility! It's been widely regarded that the Metal Slug series compares greatly to Konami's classic Contra series, but with a comic book humor twist. The debate on which series is better still lives on today. But in any case, look for more on Metal Slug Anthology at this year's E3!

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://buzzdome.blogspot.com/2006/05/metal-slug-anthology-for-nintendo-wii.html' title='Metal Slug Anthology for Nintendo Wii!! Its been awhile since I've posted, but I have a interesting tidbit to share with whomever reads this! OK. I was on IGN recently and stumbled onto a chat podcast of theirs. I listened to the entire thing and heard something very interesting near the very end. Matt C. mentioned that there are a few more announcements to be made regarding the Revolution before E3! As a matter of fact, he mentioned that one announcement will be really good for retro old school gamers that are into shooting games....!!!! And that got me to thinking! Is this announcement what I think it is?! I have a major idea of what it might be, but don't want to make any confirmation now, because of possible false set up. Does anybody have any wild guesses? If anything else, stay tuned for the announcement that should be made this week! I hail in San Antonio, Texas. Born and raised here all my life. But enough about my life story, I'll be the guy to post anything official about the upcoming Nintendo Revolution, a system that is threatning to become one rather potent dark horse at E3. That's what revo stands for in my title.
Yes indeed, the Revolution has a lot of hype, expectations, and hopes to live up to. Right now, few are going as far as to say that Nintendo will have the "Best Booth" award. Well given what we know about the Rev. so far, how can few, if not many, not be excited? We have a system that promises to change the way we all play video games literally with that "nun-chuck" motion sensor controller and a system that gives you access to pretty much every game from the NES, SNES, N64, Sega Genesis, and even TurboGrafx machine and a system.
And yet, these are the exact same features some are worried about. The controller itself is a huge question mark in some minds. Will this new device help the Revoluiton live up to its name or will it be regarded as a gaming gimmick? Then there's the much talked about virtual console. Let me tell you all, right now, that this is a feature that will undoubtedly generate millions of dollars alone into Nintendo's overall revenue. But one thing that disturbs me about it are people asking dumb questions with ridicuously obvious answers regarding the virtual console. "Will third party games be added?", "Will the games cost too much?" and etc.
First off, Nintendo has mentioned for weeks that those downloads will be fairly cheap, so I don't find much to worry about there. As for third party support on the VC? <sigh> I'll go on and say this: I highly doubt that Nintendo will have any trouble convincing the likes of Capcom, Konami, Square Enix, and etc. to show up and join this VC block party. Overall, the virtual console is shaping up to be tremendous wild card for Revolution. If there is indeed one bump within that feature, it's the nagging rumor that Rare's old titles won't see the light of day on the virtual console. Well I'll be damned if this turns out to be true. Yes, I know Microsoft owns Rare and that's a damn good excuse, reason, whatever. But given that Rare or Microsoft have not officially made an announcement, that suggests a deal between Nintendo and Microsoft might be in the works after all or maybe E3 will spill the bad news. In any case, I hope something can be worked out.
Well that's enough for today. Sorry if my first post was so long, but until next time.

"I am 8-bit"

Ign.com issued a challenge to all gamer artist back in March, asking them to prove they are truly 8-bit. First is the recently released Narutimatte Hero game for the PSP. If you haven't been able to check out Narutimatte Heros 1 - 3 on the Playstation 2, then you should definitely look at this. It contains many of the features that the PS2 versions have to offer, as well as it's own seperate RPG mode that can be found nowhere else. The game includes tons of playable characters, but you'd have to unlock them like any other fighting game would have you. The engine is a unique 2D fighter with a foreground AND background tha players are able to use to their advantage.

The next PSP import goes to Dragon Ball Z: Shin Budokai. The game hasn't been published yet, but is scheduled for a fairly soon release date of April 20th, 2006. This game reflects the 3 previous PS2 versions very well. All of your favorite attacks and counters will be there, thus leaving your playing style virtually unscathed. Most of the characters from the previous Budokai games will be there as well, plus the overlooked DBZ character known as Pikkon will make his first Budokai appearance as well.

Both games are in Japanese, but fear not. There is no region protection on these PSP Imports, meaning that you can play without the help of any additional software. Both games are also multiplayer via WiFi, awireless connection for the PSP.

For more info, check out these sites:
http://psp.ign.com/objects/704/704798.html (DBZ: Shin Budokai)
http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-13-71-9f-49-en-70-14wi.html (Narutimatte Hero)

Tomb Raider Titilation?

Tomb Raider truly reinvented the risque point of gaming with her relistic polygons in the early 1990's.
